Robert Piedra BSN, RN, FMACP
Founder/CEO
Robert Piedra, Founder of Vital Source Health, is a dedicated Cuban-American healthcare professional with deep roots in Miami. Holding degrees in Nursing and Radiologic Science, Robert has built an extensive career in South Florida, serving in multiple healthcare careers and working in various top tiered hospitals of south Florida. His expertise spans from trauma/critical care, orthopedics, neurology, and more, with a strong focus on patient-centered care and evidence-based practices.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Robert’s compassionate approach shone through as he not only provided direct patient care but also acted as a strong patient advocate. His diverse experience led him to recognize the limitations of conventional medicine, inspiring him to embrace a holistic approach that integrates the body, mind, and soul.
As a Certified Functional Medicine Practitioner, Robert employs advanced techniques like nutritional therapy, lab-analysis, stress management, and detoxification to uncover and address the root causes of health issues.
Together with his wife, Ashlyn Alfonso, Robert is committed to offering integrative, personalized care and guiding patients toward true health and harmony.
Ashlyn Alfonso BSN, RN, FMACP
Co-Founder
Ashlyn Alfonso, a proud Cuban American and South Florida native, has always been driven by both academic and athletic pursuits. Her journey into medicine began in her adolescence when she was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition, sparking a deep passion for healthcare. Ashlyn earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Florida International University and accumulated 8 years of diverse experience, working with both adult and pediatric patients across specialties like orthopedics, neurology, medical-surgical, hematology, oncology, urgent care, and rehabilitation.
Despite the rewarding moments in her nursing career, Ashlyn became acutely aware of the limitations of conventional medicine, leading her to seek a more holistic approach. A profound spiritual awakening further strengthened her belief in the connection between the soul and body, guiding her to functional medicine. Here, she discovered a comprehensive method that addresses the whole person naturally. Inspired by this journey, Ashlyn co-founded Vital Source Health with her husband, Robert Piedra.
Together, they integrate their extensive healthcare expertise with natural and spiritual practices to deliver personalized, client-centered care, fostering true well-being and harmony for their patients.
